This annual competition starts in college’s very own Concept Salons, where every Beauty, Barbering and Hairdressing student gets to work on their model. They have a set theme each time, this year being ‘Our Earth’, promoting sustainability and the environment.
The crescendo of the competition is a Catwalk Show, this year staged on a very impressive stage and runway, erected in our Sports Hall with special effects including pyrotechnics, smoke and lasers. It was illuminated by high-end theatre lighting, backdropped by an 8 metre wide screen and sound system, ready for an audience of up to 200 people!
This was installed by Moonlight Events; owned by Scott Mackin, a former Business Student. The huge stage was expertly installed by Scott and his team in just 1 day and was broken down the next morning as if it had never been there! We’d like to thank Moonlight Events once again for all their hard work and help.
The competition was judged by a panel of professionals from the hair and beauty industry, watching the 60 students prepare their models for the catwalk show, which was opened by a fantastic dance troupe from Stanley High School and all hosted by Spark Radio Presenter Andy Hilbert.
During the interlude, students also held a bake sale and raffle, raising money for Queenscourt Hospice. Following this, our Principal Michelle Brabner joined the stage to announce the winners of the 2024 spectacle.
We would like to express how proud we are of each and every single student involved in the show, the judges truly had a difficult task picking from all the entries. Huge congratulations to the winners, including the Best in Show which went to Level 2 Beauty Student Karolina Bastake.
